Board your private aircraft at Moorabbin airport and depart for a 75 minute flight over Wilson’s Promontory and Bass Strait to Flinders Island. We are picked up by local tour guide and taken on a tour of the island including the stunning beach at Trousers’ Point, the town of Whitemark, Walker’s lookout, Mt Strzelecki and Lady Baron on the west coast.
Dinner and accommodation is in twin share rooms with ensuites at the Furneaux Tavern, overlooking Franklin Sound.
After breakfast depart Flinders Island for another 70 minute flight across the top of Tasmania midway down the west coast to the picturesque village of Strahan on the Gordon River.
After checking into your accommodation at the Strahan Village it’s time for a two and a half tour of Macquarie Harbour on the yacht “Stormbreaker”. Then enjoy a quiet coffee prior to watching Australia’s longest running theatre production “The Ship that never was”. Finally it’s time for dinner overlooking the Strahan Harbour.
After breakfast it’s a 45 minute drive to Queenstown arriving in time for the departure of the West Coast Wilderness Steam railway. This is a 35km journey over an historic railway built by pioneers in the late nineteenth century. Stopping at a number of the stations on the way, you will learn about the extreme conditions that the pioneers had to endure to build this link between Queenstown and Strahan through amazing and rugged landscapes.
On arrival back at Queenstown and a quick lunch, it’s time to transfer back to Strahan and then depart on a 30 minute flight to Wynyard for fuel, before the final leg of 45 minutes to King Island. Here, we are met by Ian Johnson of King Island Holiday Village who will look after us while on the island.
Today we spend time touring southern King Island with Ian using 4WD off road vehicles. This is a great off road tour including a stunning “white tablecloth” lunch in the outback with King Island beef and cheeses. Mid-afternoon we return to the airport and depart King Island for an 80 minute trip to Moorabbin. If the weather is suitable on the flight home, we can enjoy views of the 12 Apostles.

1/2 Day Fishing at Flinders Island
Flinders Island is a fantastic largely untapped fishery. Home to just a few hundred permanent residents the fishing is some of the best to be found in Tasmania.
Very big flathead can be caught from almost any shore, whilst large Australian salmon are commonplace, particularly in the North East River and Holloway Point. Kingfish are often found chasing baitfish under the jetty in Whitemark. Call us to organise your day!
Other attractions: swimming, surfing and sightseeing.
Flinders Island – Two or Four hour Quad Bike Ride
Recently introduced as a new activity with Kirkhope Aviation air tours is a two hour quad bike ride along the flat beach, or for the more adventurous, a four hour quad bike ride up Mount Strzelecki. Call us to organise your adventure!
Why not combine a 1/2 day fishing and 1/2 day quad bike ride?
